Oseltamivir prescribing algorithm coming soon to MAPflow

December 21, 2023

MAPflow  released new and updated algorithms, including Oseltamivir (Tamiflu), in response to the Ontario government regulation authorizing pharmacy professionals to provide further vaccination and treatment options for COVID-19, influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Our goal at MAPflow is to help pharmacists  practice to their optimal scope. Timely updates and new algorithms are one of the ways we deliver on that goal. All new algorithms are included in a MAPflow subscription.

Here are the details of the expanded scope from the Ontario College of Pharmacists effective as of December 12, 2023:

  • Part A pharmacists are authorized to prescribe Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) for treatment of influenza, in addition to Paxlovid.
  • Part A pharmacists, registered pharmacy students, interns and pharmacy technicians are authorized to administer the RSV vaccine to patients five years of age and older.

Both of the above changes effective Dec 12th, 2023.
